The close-up work
that defines a sanctuary.
Decorative finishes that have graced liturgical spaces for centuries — restored with period-appropriate techniques and modern durability systems.

Gold Leaf Gilding
Vault bosses, altar frames, column capitals
Composition and genuine gold leaf applied with oil-size adhesion to barrel vaults, ribbed bosses, and ornamental frames. Each application begins with a gesso ground, burnished smooth, isolated with shellac before leafing.

Faux Marble
Columns, wainscot, sanctuary rails
Decorative marbling replicates travertine, verde antico, and Siena marble across columns, pilasters, and wainscoting. Applied in oil-based glazes over a tinted ground, finished with oil varnish and waxed to a stone polish.

Stencil Borders
Nave, narthex, and choir loft friezes
Hand-cut and registration-fitted stencils reproduce period-appropriate liturgical ornament — vine scrolls, wheat sheaves, Greek key, and foliate borders — in one to four colors with shading blends.

Historic Plaster Repair
Vaulted ceilings, ornamental cornices
Lime putty and gypsum plaster repairs matched to original substrate hardness and texture. Hairline cracks routed and packed; hollow sections reanchored with stainless lath before skim-coat restoration.
Forty years of incense
undone in four weeks.
